I guess the curve was too much for the VG Fir stringers.
Though I had them worked around to the very stern.
Where I was slowly trying to pull them in.
But.......Apparently sometime in the last two days while I was away they decided to split on both sides.
I have yet try the gunnel stringers, but if it looks like they will do the same I will have to rethink, as this wood is much too expensive to waste. The problem is it is the only thing available to me here in the proper length and to my mind appropriate material.
If you have a longish piece of tube. Put the wood in, then add boiling water. Remove and clamp the wood in place and let it dry. Thats what i did with the gunnels on my SEI
