Poker Run Tuesday

The "Poker Run" turned out to be a poker motor/crawl as there was no wind to speak of. We were able to sight a dozen lighthouses around the lake which give us the maximum draw of 5 cards whenever the game materializes. What was nice to see, is once again the slightest of breezes was able to move the boat smartly through the water.

Lake Havasu City

Well we made it to Lake Havasu yesterday, but haven't had time to get out the camera. Will be on the water today for the "Poker Run". Launch from "Site Six" was uneventful (always good) but unfortunately there was no wind, so had to motor to the London Bridge Resort. Slip assignment adjustment put us in the deeper outside slip we needed for the Typhoon.

The event is well organized, but spent the most of yesterday getting into our room, supplied and refreshed from the long drive. A "Meet and Greet" last night showed us how large this event has grown, quite a crowd.

Marathon drive to Needles

A 14 hour drive is about my limit, but it got us here to Needles, with just a short drive in the morning to Havasu. On pulling into a rest stop at Buttonwillow I notice that I only had one trailer light and it was hanging by its wires!!!

The lights had been mounted on a piece of aluminum angle stock and though it look flimsy I thought it was OK because it had made it down from Idaho last fall, boy was I wrong.

Fortunately we found a WalMart in Bakersfield and with only half hour pit stop in the parking lot we were back on the road with a new set of lights.
